Assignment
Assign email threads to specific team members so everyone knows who is handling what. Assignments are visible in the channel and stick to the thread even when new emails arrive.
Plan requirement: Assignment is available on the Business plan and above (as part of team features).
Assigning to Yourself
Every email has an Assign to me button. Click it and the thread is yours. MailFellow posts a message in the thread confirming the assignment.
Assigning to Someone Else
Use the slash command in an email thread:
/mailfellow assign @teammateThe target person must be an authorized member of the email account. MailFellow posts a message in the thread showing who assigned it and to whom.
Removing an Assignment
Use the unassign command in the thread:
/mailfellow unassignThis clears the assignment from all emails in the thread.
How It Works
- Assignment is at the thread level:all emails in the same thread share the same assignee
- When a new email arrives in an assigned thread, it automatically inherits the assignment
- Reassigning is allowed. Clicking Assign or using the command again updates the assignment
- The assignee is shown on the email card (Slack context block, Discord embed field, Teams Adaptive Card)
Visibility
When a thread is assigned:
- A thread message appears: "@user assigned this thread to themselves."
- An "Assigned to @user" badge shows on the email card for new emails in the thread
- The dashboard shows assigned threads in the recent activity feed
- The leaderboard tracks assignment counts per member
